CLLC News ![]() New Youth Pastor Installed at Chapel of the Lakes Rev. David R. Solum (center) was ordained into the ministry and installed as Assistant Pastor for Youth at Chapel of the Lakes Lutheran Church on Sunday, June 20. Pictured with him are Rev. Raymond R. Pollatz (left), Pastor Emeritus at Chapel of the Lakes, and Rev. Paul H. Schneider (right), Senior Pastor at CLLC. Rev. David R. Solum was ordained
into the ministry and installed as Assistant Pastor for Youth at Chapel
of the Lakes Lutheran Church, Mecosta, on Sunday, June 20. Pastor
Solum graduated from Concordia Theological Seminary, Ft. Wayne,
Indiana, in May 2010, with a Master of Divinity Degree. Rev. John
Bookshaw, Pastor at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Big Rapids, officiated
at the ordination, and Rev. Paul H. Schneider, Senior Pastor at Chapel
of the Lakes, performed the installation. Preacher for the
service was Rev. Jonathan T. Krenz, Pastor at Epiphany Lutheran Church,
Dorr. Other participating pastors were Rev. Jonathon J. Bakker,
Pastor at Zion Lutheran Church and Christ the King Chapel, Mt.
Pleasant, and Rev. Raymond R. Pollatz, Pastor Emeritus, Chapel of the
Lakes.
While Pastor Solum’s main ministry will be with the youth of the church and in the Mecosta community, he will also assist Pastor Paul with other pastoral duties including preaching, teaching, counseling, and making hospital and home visits. While a seminarian, he sang with the seminary Kantorei, and has already joined the church choir where he sings tenor. “Pastor David,” as members affectionately address him, and his wife Lisa are purchasing a home in the area and have expressed their enjoyment of the beauty and tranquility here. They were pleased to learn of the nationally-ranked hockey program at Ferris State since they are avid fans of that sport. Both Pastor David and Lisa received their Bachelors degrees from Concordia University, Chicago. Lisa’s major was music with emphasis on wind instruments. She and Stephen Bookshaw, Minister of Music, St. Peter, Big Rapids, accompanied congregational singing on trumpets during the ordination and installation service for her husband. Rev. Solum is from Bothell, Washington, while Lisa hails from Frankenmuth. They like camping and are looking forward to camping trips with the youth group at Chapel of the Lakes. While her husband is busy with pastoral responsibilities, Lisa is interested in finding employment that will utilize her musical talents. ![]() New Youth Pastor Candidate Call Service Pictures from Concordia 4/28/2010 ![]()
